Tap water can kill – Protect yourself

“Two decades after the start of chlorinating our drinking water
the present epidemic of heart trouble and cancer began.”

- Joseph M. Price, PhD
Author of “Coronaries/Cholesterol/Chlorine”

We all know chlorine is added to public water systems to kill microorganisms that cause diseases.  That is good, BUT chlorine is causing major health problems. Here are a few facts worth knowing.

● Americans are consuming 300-600 times the amount of chlorine that is safe to ingest according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

● The cancer risk for people who drink chlorinated water is up to 93% higher than for those whose water does not contain chlorine according to the U.S. Council of Environmental Quality.

● One common factor among women with breast cancer is that they all have 60% higher levels of these chlorination byproducts (THMs) in their fat tissue than women without breast cancer, according to the Breast Cancer Fund.

● Chlorine produces excessive levels of free radicals that trigger the growth of abnormal cells leading to atherosclerosis and cancer according to Martin Fox, PhD, author of “Healthy Water for a Longer Life.”

You don’t have to drink tap water to put your health in jeopardy.  Taking a hot shower is said to be like stepping into a chlorine gas chamber.

According to the “American Journal of Public Health,” up to two-thirds of the harmful effects of chlorine are due to inhalation and skin absorption while showering.

How to make tap water safe to drink

The best solution for the chlorine problem is to install a whole-house water filter system.  The next best choice is to install filters on all your faucets including the shower.  If your budget is a concern, you can at least avoid drinking chlorinated water.  Simply fill a glass bottle with tap water and put it in the refrigerator without a lid for 24 hours.  That’s enough time for the chlorine to evaporate, or you can boil your water before drinking it.

Researchers discover major cause of autism

A Korean-American couple working in separate university labs have combined their research discoveries and found a major cause of autism.

On September 13, 2017, the science journal “Nature” published the findings of Professor Gloria Choi, who does brain research at MIT, and her husband Hun Jun-ryeol, a professor of immunology at Harvard Medical School.

The couple found that certain bacteria in the mother’s digestive tract can lead to having an autistic child.  This means that diet and drugs could be used to reduce the risk of having an autistic child.

In addition, they found the exact part of the brain linked to autistic behaviors.  This could be essential in finding a cure for those who already have autism.

As with so many scientific research projects, a little white mouse played a key role

In this case, a pregnant mouse was infected by a virus resulting in her offspring exhibiting autistic behaviors. Then when the researchers removed the bacteria with antibiotics, the mouse had normal babies.

Ben & Jerry’s ice cream could make you sick

Nearly everyone loves ice cream, and Ben & Jerry’s in one of the best-known brands.  That’s why it was disheartening to read test results on the company’s products.

According to the Organic Consumers Association, 11 of the company’s ice creams were tested and ten of them were found to contain glyphosate – a key ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide.

There is NO SAFE LEVEL of glyphosate which is known to cause cancer.  Many researchers also believed it can trigger autism, attention deficit, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, cardiovascular disease, inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease and colitis, allergies and even obesity.

Beekeeper finds safe way to destroy plastic trash

A beekeeper has stumbled upon a way to reduce the plastic trash that is suffocating the world.  That wasn’t her original goal.  She simply sought to rid one of her beehives from an infestation of wax worms.

So, she thoroughly cleaned the hive and put the wax worms in an ordinary plastic shopping bag which she tied and then temporarily placed in a room.

When she returned to the room, the plastic bag was riddled with holes and the little worms were crawling everywhere.

Now Federica Bertocchini is no ordinary beekeeper.  She is a scientist with the Institute of Biomedicine and Biotechnology of Cantabria in Spain.  She saw how the wax worms might help solve the global problem of ever-mounting plastic trash.

When she shared her discovery with her fellow scientists, they began studying the worms. To their amazement, they found the little creatures could devour much of a plastic bag in less than an hour.

"We are planning to implement this finding into a viable way to get rid of plastic waste, working towards a solution to save our oceans, rivers, and all the environment from the unavoidable consequences of plastic accumulation," Bertocchini says.

The wax worm research report by Bertocchini and her team was published in the scientific journal “Current Biology” on April 24, 2017.  By the way, if you wish to try your own plastic bag experiment, live wax worms can be purchased online. – The editor

Ken Jennings, Watson the Super Computer and Brad Rutter competed on “Jeopardy” in 2011.

Computer that won “Jeopardy” now saves lives

By Mary Joyce, website editor

Watson the Super Computer was specifically designed by IBM to win the TV quiz show “Jeopardy” and did just that in 2011.  That was the year the show’s two all-time winners, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter, lost to the computer wizard.

Immediately after collecting the million-dollar prize money, IBM began working on real world applications for its computer and “enrolled” Watson in medical school at both Columbia University and the University of Maryland.

By 2013, Watson had absorbed dozens of medical textbooks, all the journals published by PubMed and MEDLINE (U.S. National Library of Medicine) and thousands of patient records from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  Watson’s medical education has continued since then.

Many now consider Watson to be the world’s best diagnostician because it can store more medical information than any doctor could possibly know.

Thanks to Watson’s extensive artificial intelligence, lives are being saved.  For example, the University of Tokyo reported in 2016 that doctors had tried for months to treat a woman’s rare form of leukemia without success.  So, they decided to give Watson the patient’s genetic information.

Within 10 minutes, Watson sifted through 20 million cancer research papers, arrived at the proper diagnosis and suggested a new treatment that proved to be more effective.

Memory problems? Could be too much sugar

“Overall, people with higher blood sugar readings performed worse
on the memory test, compared to those with lower blood sugar levels.”

 Dr. Agnes Floel, neurologist at
Charite University Medicine in Berlin, Germany

"Eating a high-fructose diet over the long term alters your
brain's ability to learn and remember information.”

Fernando Gomez-Pinilla, professor of neurosurgery, integrative biology
and physiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA

“Our findings indicate an association between higher sugary beverage

intake and brain atrophy, including lower brain volume and
poorer memory. We also found that people drinking
diet soda daily were almost three times as likely
to develop stroke and dementia.”

Matthew Pase, PhD, neurology department,
Boston University School of Medicine

“Two hundred years ago, the average American ate only 2 pounds of sugar a year.  In 1970, we ate 123 pounds of sugar per year.

Today, the average American consumes almost 152 pounds of sugar in one year.  This is equal to 3 pounds (or 6 cups) of sugar consumed in one week!”

Regression Therapy often delivers quick cures
By Mary Joyce, website editor

Many years ago, I read about an overweight woman who found it impossible to lose her excess weight – until she had a regression therapy session.  During that hypnotic regression, she found she had starved to death in a previous life.  Once she realized her extra weight was a subconscious effort to prevent starvation, her extra pounds began to rapidly melt away.  It was a quick, simple and remarkable cure for her lifelong problem.

Brian Weiss book

In his book “Miracles Happen,” Brian L. Weiss, MD, shares actual cases where regression therapy has healed a wide variety of physical and emotional problems.  Here is a case from his book as told by Maria Castillo, a social worker who uses past-life regressions in her private practice.

“David was a thirty-five-year-old man who came to see me as a last resort. He had been suffering with severe migraines since the age of twenty-two, when he joined the navy.  He had tried conventional medical treatments, to no avail.  The migraines affected his schooling, his jobs (as he lost time at work and would ultimately lose the job), and his career.  We uncovered three past lives in which he died from a blow to the head.

“In the most significant one, he was in the navy during the Spanish-American War.  He had served on a ship in the Caribbean, shoveling coal.  When he was twenty-two years old, his coworker accidentally hit him in the head with the shovel, leaving him paralyzed and in a wheelchair.  He was discharged and lived another year in excruciating pain and depression, until his death.

“David’s migraines improved significantly after the regression, and they have become more manageable.  Each area of the head where his migraines occurred in this life corresponded to one of the three blows that he had suffered in past lives.”

Dr. Weiss’ comment on this case: “Migraine headaches have plagued mankind for millennia.  Although effective new medicines have been developed, all medications cause side effects.  Remembering past lives is noninvasive and has no side effects.  It allows migraines to be alleviated while spiritual insights and wisdom are being achieved.  David has greatly benefited from this approach.

3-D bioprinter makes human skin in 35 minutes

According to a January 25, 2017 article in “Medical News Today,” researchers in Spain have developed a 3-D bioprinter that can produce a 39 x 39-inch sheet of human skin in under 35 minutes. The artificial skin has proven suitable for transplanting onto patients, like burn victims, or for drug and cosmetic testing.

The skin-printing technology developed by the Spanish team actually generates two layers of skin - the epidermis and the dermis – and contains fibroblasts which produce collagen that gives skin its strength and elasticity.

The 3-D bioprinter has cartridges somewhat like an ordinary computer printer, but instead of ink, the cartridges contain biological components.

This breakthrough technology was developed by scientists from (1) Universidad Carlos III de Madrid; (2) the Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research; (3) Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Maranon in collaboration with the BioDan Group which is a bioengineering company specializing in regenerative medicine.
